Nest is a series of work made for an exhibition at The Vestibules, City Hall, Bristol, (September 2018), titled seiTies – the shifting notion of personal identity.
nest: a resting place; home; an assemblage of things lying or set close together.
I’m interested in the universal human experience of loss and in finding ways to express what it means to live with the presence of absence. Utilising the identical spaces of The Vestibules, these works explore the value of meaning-making and the intimate relationship between making art and interpreting art works. Same theme, different intentions.
In one space are recognisable and presentable art works – a painting, an installation. In the other, what lies underneath.
