Soil, coal, body: Digging into these materials, I got to know their characteristics and behaviours, and the porous boundaries between body and land, self and system. A new language began to emerge – enabling me to begin to explore disenfranchised feelings, (m)otherhood and the liminal space I inhabit today as a mother without children.
