The past tense of incomplete or progressive action


def:  Grammar.  Applied to a tense which denotes action going on but not completed; usually to the past tense of incomplete or progressive action.

This is the part of a series of projects – all that remains, time, mutepast imperfect,  it’s not just black and white  –  made during a year long residency in a disused block of wards at a local hospital.  The wards had been closed for many years, frozen in time between demolition and regeneration.
